The Importance of Mental Health in Autism
It is critical that parents, teachers, and clinicians understand that those on the autism spectrum may also have co-occurring psychiatric issues. Clinicians should also be aware that patients presenting with psychiatric problems may have unidentified ASD. Let’s make sure that no more autistic children, adolescents, or adults ever feel alone in this world. And let’s work together to support policy changes that grant autistic people access to appropriate interventions and accommodations in school, the workplace, and the community that support their mental health.
